Grand Knight's Report

September is here already which means welcome to another exciting year with our council. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the Tootsie Roll Drive for the handicapped. Please make every effort to volunteer a little time for this event as it’s our biggest fundraiser of the year. If you or your friends or loved ones cannot find the time, we ask that you send a donation, or better yet, bring the donation to a Council Meeting.

Don’t forget the Spaghetti Dinner on September 26. We also need volunteers for this event, so if you would like to help, contact Chairman John Regalado. Tell your friends and relatives not to cook that evening but instead come on out and enjoy a deeelicious spaghetti dinner with all the trimmings.

Last but not least we are having a first degree at the September 13th council meeting.  This is a good opportunity for all Brother Knights that we haven’t seen in a while to come and meet the new “Recruits” and to get re-acquainted with some old friends.

Keep in Mind … “There’s Strength in Numbers” which means the more active members we have, the more of God’s work we can do in the area.

TOOTSIE ROLL DRIVE – Fri Sat. and Sun. Sept. 17,18,19, 2010

We Need “FEET ON THE STREET” for this event to make it a success. So please volunteer for a couple hours or for the entire day. The choice is yours. The drive will start out at 6:30 AM and go until around 6:30 PM all three days Headquarters will be at

Hann Funeral Home

8230 So. Harlem Ave.

Bridgeview, IL  (708) 496-3344

REMEMBER .. Friends and relatives can volunteer for this worthy cause. It’s not just limited to Brother Knights!!

There are no age restrictions for volunteers, but those under 18 years old will be limited to store fronts (Jewel, Walgreen’s etc.) or church entrances due to Illinois State regulations. Don’t let that stop you. Those areas are very important and often bring in more donations than the street corners.

During Masses at St. Fabian’s we will need people to help with collections in the church narthex that weekend also. Every effort will be made to place all volunteers in locations suited to their individual needs and refreshments will be available including hot dogs and pop at Hann’s from 11:00 AM to 6:30 PM Friday and Saturday.

CORNER CAPTAINS

Corner Captains service all canvassing locations to manage collections, maintain inventories and supply ice cold water to volunteers. This position can only be filled by Brother Knights and we will need several, so please consider this important post also.

For scheduling purposes, we will need all volunteer lists to be in by Mon. Sept. 13. Please send or email your lists to Chairman George Gomoll at the addresses listed below. Or you may phone him at the listed number. Please include names of volunteers, available days and times as well as any special requests or requirements. You may also contact any of the council officers listed on the Officers Page of this WEB site.

Once again .. Please consider helping out for this most important event. Many local charities benefit from the monies collected. This is the biggest fund raiser of the year for our council.

Thank you
